Beginner Golf Vocabulary Part 1: Slang
FORE
When a golfer hits a bad shot, they yell “FORE,” at the group where the ball is headed to alert them to watch out.
GIMME
When a putt is so close to the hole that your playing partners let you just pick it up for a “gimme.”
MULLIGAN
When a golfer is allowed a “re-do” of their shot if it goes poorly.
READY GOLF
When a group is trying to keep a good pace for a quick round, they often play “ready golf,” where you hit your ball even when it might not be technically your turn.
WHIFF
A swing and a miss; when a golfer completely misses the ball on their swing.
