Nelly Korda on winning streak

Nelly Korda started playing golf at an early age, and in 2017 she joined her sister Jessica Korda on the LPGA Tour. With 14 tour victories, an international crown win, 3 Solheim Cup wins, and an olympic gold medal, Korda has certainly made her mark on the world of golf.

In the first few months of 2024, Korda has won 6 Tour events in 8 starts, 5 of which were one after another. Her win at the Mizuho Americas Open on May 19th marked her as the first player since 2013 to win 6 times in a single season.

Fans hope Korda will continue her exceptional winning streak through the U.S. Women’s Open beginning on May 30th. Korda is going into the tournament as a top competitor, and the overwhelming favorite for the title. With a win at The Chevron Championship on April 21st, the U.S. Women's Open would be her second straight major win of the year, and Korda strives to take the title at the first two majors of the season.

As the first in the LPGA in greens in regulation (GIR), and third in putts per GIR, Korda’s precision and accuracy has been a main contributing factor to her success this season. She also has a strong mental game that has allowed her to stay consistent, however fans worry that the intensity of this weekend, and the pressure to win a grand slam will cause her stability to fall. Korda has addressed the mental side of her game, and revealed that she stays focused on herself and avoids getting distracted in order to play well.

With her incredible start to the 2024 season, Korda has given her fans high hopes for the U.S. Women’s Open, and her scores will be watched closely. A “Super Grand Slam,” or winning 5 majors in a row is in sight for Korda, and fans believe that if she achieves that goal, it will be renamed to the “Nelly Slam.”
